Basics: Vanilla Whipped Cream- Yes to CookingYou’ve made the perfect cake and pastries.  Now it’s time to add that dollop of fresh vanilla whipped cream to bring everything together.   Here’s a recipe for a basic dessert cream.  Substitute the vanilla extract for other flavors, such as orange extract, for a change.

Time: 5 minutes

Yield: 2 cups

1 cup heavy whipping cream
1 tbsp. sugar
.5 tsp. vanilla extract

1) Prepare a large mixing bowl with ice and cold water.  Place a smaller mixing bowl on top.
2) Combine cream, sugar, and vanilla
extract in the smaller mixing bowl.  Beat with a metal whisk for approximately 5 minutes, or until desired consistency is reached.
3) Serve immediately or chilled in refrigerator.
